Ingredients
200 ml (7 fl oz) milk
1½ tbsp treacle
225 g (8 oz) SR flour
150 g (5 oz) sugar
225 g (8 oz) raisins
225 g (8 oz) sultanas
1 beaten egg
Preheat oven to 160C, 325F or gas mark 3.
Heat milk and treacle gently until combined (do not overheat). Mix dry ingredients together. Beat egg into milk mix then add to dry ingredients and combine well together.
Grease a 2 lb tin and pour in mix, shaking to flatten. Bake on the top shelf of the oven for around an hour until a fine skewer inserted in the loaf comes out clean.
