Ingredients
200 g (7 oz) butter
200 g (7 oz) Thorntons plain chocolate
3 medium eggs
250 g (9 oz) caster sugar
110 g (4 oz) plain flour
½ tsp salt
125 g (4 oz) walnuts, coarsely chopped
½ tsp vanilla essence
Preheat oven to 170C, 350F or gas mark 4 and line a tray bake tin with baking parchment.
Melt butter and chocolate together in the microwave on high for one minute or place in a glass bowl over simmering water until melted.
Beat together eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy then add the melted chocolate and butter and mix well until blended. Add the sieved flour and salt along with the chopped nuts and vanilla essence. Mix together until all ingredients are incorporated. Pour into the prepared tin and bake for 35 minutes (the top will look cracked and flaked but don’t worry as this is correct). Remove from tin, cut into squares and serve.
