Oaty Bramley crumble

Ingredients

900 g (2 lb) Bramley apples, peeled, cored and sliced
75 g (3 oz) caster sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
175 g (6 oz) butter
225 g (8 oz) plain flour
100 g (3 ½ oz) demerara sugar
175 g (6 oz) jumbo oats

Preheat oven to 200 C, 400 F or gas mark 6. 

Place Bramley slices, caster sugar and cinnamon, if using, into a large ovenproof dish.

Rub butter into flour, sugar and oats to make a crumble mix. Scatter crumble over Bramleys in an even layer. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden and apples are tender.
