Daredevil barber trims hair to pay for his travels

Since then, the Motobarber, as he calls himself, has cut people’s hair underwater, on top of mountains and in the desert.

His little girl will be 11 when Denis gets back from his adventures, which got the full blessing of her and his wife.

Denis has been riding across the globe on his motorbike, bag packed full of scissors, razors and other tools of the barber trade.

He felt it would be the ideal way to add a little bit of spice to his trade, as life at his shop in Krasnoyarsk had got a bit samey.

The idea was to pay for his lengthy trip by giving haircuts along the way and, so far, it’s done just that.

He has loads of sockets with him, to be able to cut anywhere, and that’s vital — he constantly needs cash for petrol, food and other necessities, along with costly parachute and sea dives.

So far, he’s done his extreme hairdressing performances in Mongolia, China, South Korea and the Philippines, has crimped and shaved on a live volcano and even while paragliding at 1,000 feet.

That was for fellow-Russian Aleksandr Orlov, who did it just because he wanted to know what it was like to get your hair cut and beard trimmed as you soared through the clouds!

He made Denis an offer — you get a free ride in my paraglider across the sky in Vietnam, in exchange for my airborne haircut.

You do have to ask, were the poor passers-by 1,000 feet below shocked or raging to find themselves covered in hair?

Aleksandr says it was actually not quite the fun experience he’d anticipated, as he picked up a few scratches around his neck and he was very cold in the biting wind.

Oh well, you will insist on having your beard trimmed while paragliding, sir!

Denis’s barber tools were attached to ropes to avoid them being blown away.

Normally, a barber will wet your hair before cutting, but for Denis, some customers got totally soaked — well, they were under the sea, after all.

This was at the bottom of the Sulu Sea, just off Panglao Island in the Philippines.
