Lewis and Logan Donnelly were born four months early weighing 3lb 2oz combined.

Anxious mum Lynn, 33, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, believes the boys only made it their landmark first birthday thanks to a special double intensive care cot that she begged medical staff at Wishaw General Hospital to source.

Now, with husband Tony, also 33, she is raising awareness of the special Swedish incubators and fundraising to introduce more of them to Scottish hospitals.

“There is strong evidence that keeping premature twins together increases their chances of making it,” she said.

“So I located a special care twin cot made by a Swedish company and pleaded with the ward manager to help me get one.

“We would love to see a twin cot in every neonatal unit.

“I would have done anything to help them make it after being born so early.”
