ET invites you to
a dance

AGNES MacMICHAEL from Broxburn is used to hearing quips about the name of the dance school she runs.
That’s not surprising when you find out it’s called the ET Scottish Country Dance Group.
“I do sometimes tell people it’s because we’re on another planet,” laughs Agnes.
“But the ET is nothing to do with being an extra-terrestrial, it stands for Ecclesmachen and Threemiletown.
“We meet in the village hall at Ecclesmachen every Monday.”
Each year Agnes (60) and her 20 students organise a Scottish Country Dance around St Valentine’s Day.
All proceeds go to charity and in 2004 they decided to make our campaign for CHAS’s Robin House their good cause.
Raising £600, it was such a success they’ve decided to give the donations to CHAS again this year.
The 2005 event is being held on Friday, at the Strathbrock Community Centre in Broxburn.
Kick-off for the evening of reels, jigs and Strathspeys will be 7.30 pm, with accordionist Alan Ross and his Scottish Dance Band providing the music.
“It was my 60th birthday in 2004 and I asked for donations for CHAS instead of presents, which raised £500,” explains Agnes.
“So, last year we managed to give £1100 to CHAS in all.
“It’s amazing how generous people can be when it’s for a good cause.”
Anyone interested in attending the ET dance should contact Agnes on 01506 500457.
