The stress-free way to raise more than £1000
Hing Fung Teh, an instructor of the BCCMA (British Council of Chinese Martial Arts), explained, “I moved to Scotland around
30 years ago from Malaysia and have been running tai chi classes for 10 years. We always get everyone together at Christmas time, but this year we decided to do something a bit different.
“I asked my classes to come up with ideas for what we could do. We decided to organise an event everyone could attend together and that the money should go to local charities.

“Several were recommended but we chose CHAS because we wanted to donate money somewhere we knew it would directly help people.
“Half the cash raised is going to CHAS and the other half to TENOVUS Scotland, an independent charity funding medical research.”
As well as raffles and donations, more than 250 of Hing Fung Teh’s tai chi students, friends and spectators, attended and took part in gentle tai chi and qigong exercises.
Tai chi, also known as tai ji quan, is a Chinese martial art form practised throughout the world as a health exercise suitable for all ages and often described as meditation in motion.
It comprises a series of graceful, gentle, flowing movements. Qigong is an internal breathing training system practised by the Chinese for thousands of years and renowned for its therapeutic benefits for physical well-being and mental calmness.
Hing Fung Teh said, “We’ve already raised more than £1000 and there’s more to come yet. I want to thank everyone who turned up and made the event such a success.”
