Even pneumonia couldn’t stop Wullie
Serious
Wullie explained, “It was after I’d had my head shaved that I started feeling a little ill. I was taken to hospital and it turned out I was very sick. I don’t know how bad it was, but it must have been serious to keep me in hospital for that length of time.
“I don’t think it was anything to do with my head being shaved though!” he joked.
“We had a big night to raise money at the Princess Bar and I thought I should have my head shaved. I had a full head of long hair, too.”
Wullie explained that CHAS is close to his heart, because of his grandson, Darren Mulligan (19) who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Darren has been visiting Rachel House since it opened in 1996.
Wullie said, “Darren loves it there. His condition means the home is a godsend. He injures himself when he falls over and he’s had a lot of help at Rachel House. Since he first went there, he’s been much happier.
“This is why Robin House is so important too.
“We’ve not been to Rachel House, but we want to go there. We hear the staff are fantastic. They’re real heroes.”
Debbie Traynor from CHAS was on hand to receive the cheque. She was delighted with the effort from Wullie and everyone at the Princess Bar.
She said, “Thanks to everyone here for the amount raised. It was especially remarkable that Wullie, who has had health problems, made such a huge effort for a cause that’s obviously very close to his heart.” |
