Lockerbie cow
got it off pat!

MEMBERS OF Lockerbie Rotary Club came up with a novel way of raising money for our appeal — let a cow loose in a field and guess where it will drop its first cow pat! Sounds disgusting, but it raised £1500 for CHAS.
Lockerbie president David Mair said it was the brainwave of senior vice president Roger Claymore and dairy farmer David Carlyle, a past president, who allowed the event to be held in one of his fields.

Pumplaburn selects a suitable patch of grass.

The 11-acre field was divided into 2000 squares and people had to guess on which square the first pat would fall — for £1.
So Pumplaburn Mars Norma, to give the cow her full name, was released into the field and after just 15 minutes and one whole lap of the field the Holstein left her mark.
Margaret Hunter predicted the square and won herself £500.
David said, “We had great support from the public for this as everybody appreciates the work CHAS does.”
