A piece of Celtic’s
history goes south

A FEW weeks ago we told the story of Jane Dallas, who works for the Scottish Prison Service.
While attending a function in a Glasgow hotel in February, Jane bumped into the Celtic squad who were there preparing for a crucial league match.
Sensing a rare opportunity to get the stars’ autographs, she fished around in her handbag for a bit of paper. The closest she could find was an envelope, which Henrik Larsson & co. were happy to sign.
When she returned to work at Glenochil Prison, Jane decided to frame the envelope, and asked one of the prisoners, Billy, who is an excellent artist, if he could draw something to go alongside it.

Billy and Jean show off the drawings
and signed envelope.

Billy did a fantastic sketch of manager Martin O’Neill, wing-back Didier Agathe and top scorer Larsson.
The record
To complete the montage, Jane stuck a Sunday Post match report from Celtic’s 2-1 win over Dundee United — the day they equalled the record for consecutive Scottish league wins — on the back.
She decided to auction the finished article, with all proceeds going to our CHAS campaign.
And we’re delighted to reveal the proud recipient of the mosaic is exiled Celtic fan Len Culverwell from Bournemouth, who splashed out £100 to secure it.
Len, who works for Nevis Marketing, said, “This is great news. I moved to England from Greenock at the age of four, but I’ve continued to follow the team. I’m Celtic-daft.
“I’m in a Celtic supporters’ club down here, we’ve got 120 members and we try to see as many games as possible.
“I read the article about the drawing and signatures and just decided to put in a bid — though I never expected to win.”
