Padi raised cash — fast!

By Sarah Johnson

EASTERTON STABLES, Milngavie, raised £475 at their Open Day with lots of fun activities ensuring ‘neigh’ body trotted off without donating to The Sunday Post CHAS Appeal.
There were cake and candy stalls, a chance to try their hand at archery and pony club games at the stable’s annual charity event.

Adriana Bomba, of Easterton Stables, takes Lesley and Padi for a whirl.

One of the most popular attractions was Padi, a 14-year-old American Standardbred, who proudly drew passengers on a gig around the fields.
The breed was developed in the USA from crossing a thoroughbred stallion imported in 1788, named Messenger, to local harness horses. The end result was horses with exceptional trotting speed.
One of those who took a spin with Padi was Lesley Fitzsimmons who played Sheila in High Road
The owners of Easterton Stables, Rosemary Brown and David Ralston, chose CHAS as this year’s beneficiary because the new Robin House hospice is taking shape nearby and, as the stables teach children from the age of four, or as soon as their feet can touch the stirrups, the welfare of children is close to their hearts.
They plan to continue with their commitment to CHAS with more events planned throughout the year.
