Going under the hammer

By Stevie Gallacher

THIS WEEK and next you can bid to become an auction hero to help The Sunday Post CHAS appeal.
Buchanan Galleries shopping centre in Glasgow is hosting a charity auction with lots of items going under the hammer to raise money for Robin House.
The lots will be displayed for a fortnight, starting tomorrow. Bids will be accepted the following week, starting on October 6. Details of how to bid will be announced next week in The Sunday Post.
Pick of the lots is a bottle of limited edition Morrison Bowmore whisky, worth an estimated £1500. It’s one of only 10 made to commemorate CHAS’s 10th anniversary.
Also up for grabs is a platinum disc donated by Scots band Texas. Lead singer Sharleen Spiteri will personally sign the disc, awarded to the band to celebrate selling 1.8 million copies of their Greatest Hits album, for the highest bidder. The starting bid is £200.

Kind-hearted Sharleen has also donated signed CDs to the auction.
Hamish Millar, Centre Manager of Buchanan Galleries, was delighted to be auctioning off these prestigious items to raise money for the Children’s Hospice.
“The children who will need the new hospice touch your heart strings and we’re all just trying to make their time a bit happier,” he said.
“There are reserve prices on all the items but we haven’t put a target on the total we hope to raise.”
Other lots include Star Wars Episode I and II DVDs signed by Ewan McGregor, with reserves of £100 each.
A signed Rangers top and a special half-Celtic, half-St Mirren top from Frank McAvennie’s testimonial will also go under the hammer, as well an official Manchester United football, signed by the first team.
Remember — details of how you can take part in the auction will be in next week’s Sunday Post.
