Help us to help them

This was a very
good investment

By Stevie Gallacher

LAST JUNE, The Sunday Post gave readers the chance to buy a commemorative miniature of whisky to help raise money for the new hospice, writes Stevie Gallacher.
The Morrison Bowmore Legend Islay Single Malt was bottled in honour of CHAS’s 10th anniversary.

We offered the whisky in return for a donation of £5 towards our campaign, and within days readers snapped up the miniatures, which were strictly limited to just 1000 bottles.
Last week, at a rare whisky auction in Glasgow, one of those bottles went for £80. That’s a dram-atic 16 times its original price!

One of the miniatures.

Bob Tomlinson, fund-raising manager for CHAS, reckoned Morrison Bowmore’s whisky is the toast of the CHAS appeal.
He said, “We’re delighted with the sale. The miniatures are now serious collectors’ items.”
Matthew Mitchell, spokesman for Morrison Bowmore said, “Because the miniature was limited to 1000, the value can be high in collectors’ terms.
“The two bigger cousins, the 70cl versions, went for more than £1000 each.”
