ANYONE crossing the Forth Road Bridge recently may have been greeted by the sight of grown men and women walking across the bridge wearing nappies, writes Murray Scougall.
Now The Sunday Post can reveal why.
More than 20 adults and children took part in a fancy-dress sponsored walk organised by Glenrothes Stagecoach staff, raising £877 for our appeal. The bus company kindly made up the total to £1000.
Driver Brian McGlashan was the brains behind the nappy walk operation.
He gathered fellow workers, along with friends and family, and on a chilly December morning, managed to persuade several adults to take off their trousers, replace them with nappies and trudge over the bridge. Eight children also dressed up and Minnie Mouse, a lion, a nurse and a Spanish dancer were just some of the characters making the crossing.
Brian said, “Those of us wearing nappies were so cold we couldn’t feel anything below our waists! Some people decided against wearing the nappies because it was so cold. But it didn’t matter, as everyone still dressed up and had a good time regardless.
“And we raised a lot of money, which was our main objective.
“I’d just like to thank everyone involved, especially the children who came out, for making the event such a success and raising a great amount.”
