Every penny counts
FOR AS long as she cares to remember, Christine Gallagher
(pictured right) has ordered husband Thomas and grown-up sons Paul and David to empty their pockets when they come home from work.
Any one and two pence pieces are saved and, every six months or so, Christine donates the bags of coppers to charity.
She’s been moved by our heartwarming stories from Rachel House and so this year she’s donating her bags of spare change to CHAS. Last week we took delivery of £51.22 — all in coppers.
“It’s wonderful that The Sunday Post is doing something like this because a new hospice in Scotland would be brilliant,” said Christine, from Thornliebank, Glasgow.
“Many people disregard coppers as insignificant but if everyone saved them up and donated them to your appeal then there would probably be enough for TWO new hospices!”
