Silent — and successful

PAISLEY PUPILS raised the fantastic amount of £2002.50 for our Hospice Appeal with a silent auction.
The boys of Kibble Education and Care Centre have emotional and behavioural difficulties — but they put their own problems aside in aid of a good cause.
Some of the teenagers, along with their teacher Laura Cairns, approached local businesses, staff and family and friends for donations for the 12-hour fund-raiser.

Laura Cairns, Matt McCartney and two of the pupils with their cheque.

Matt McCartney said they secured top prizes such as a lunch at the Hilton in Glasgow, footballs signed by the players of Celtic and Rangers, as well as several football tops from other teams, a digital safe, CDs and computer games. Some pupils even made a fireplace, tables and chess boards, which attracted many bids.
Around 100 buyers, made up of residents, members of staff, pupils and even the local nursery, went along to the auction.
Matt said, “The kids were over the moon when they heard how much they had raised. They couldn’t believe it.”
