What
a blooming wonderful effort
SUPPORT FOR our hospice appeal from kind-hearted readers continues to grow daily. Last week your donations reached £13,000, bringing our total to £35,000.
John and Chris Scott, who own Meadowside Nursery and Plant Centre in Braidwood, near
Carluke, sent us a cheque for £870.
The couple were celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Countrystyle Restaurant, which is part of their centre. Last weekend they asked customers to help our campaign and in just two days of fun-filled events like a tombola and face-painting the money poured in.
Meanwhile, Eoin Christie, manager of Sandyknowes fishery near Perth, has organised a fund-raising angling event today.

From 10 am to
6 pm you can go along to the picturesque eight-acre loch near Bridge of Earn which has been jumping with trout for weeks.
The cost is £25 for the day which includes food and beer - and there will be the opportunity to go home with a trophy.
All proceeds of the day will go to The Sunday Post Hospice Appeal, on top of the £100 Eoin has raised already by selling tea and coffee to thirsty anglers at 20p a time.

There’s no business like showbusiness — especially when it comes to raising money.
Glasgow Light Opera Club are putting on the Irving Berlin musical Annie Get Your Gun at Glasgow’s King’s Theatre from November 12-17.
And they’re offering school groups the chance to see the show for £5 a head (normally £6 to £13) — with £2 from every ticket going to our Hospice Appeal.
Alasdair Ross of GLOC says, “We thought this would be an ideal way to help youngsters raise the cash needed for this wonderful cause.”
Performances are at
7.30 pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30 pm.
Any school wishing to take up this offer should call GLOC’s secretary on
0141 339 4673 or e-mail info@gloc.org.uk for further information. Oh, and — please, sir — teachers go for free!
