Signed Harry Potter
book auction

OUR CAMPAIGN to build a second children’s hospice has received a massive boost from the planet’s most famous schoolboy — Harry Potter.
The junior wizard’s creator, J K Rowling, has been so moved by our appeal she has given us a rare, signed first edition of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire to be auctioned in aid of the new hospice.
The author’s donation spells great news for our appeal. First editions of the series are much sought after by book collectors around the world. The early books in particular can change hands for thousands.
The hardback is a beautifully-crafted version, with the author’s signature in gold leaf on the front — and the big bonus is that she has also personally signed it inside.
The book would make an amazing Christmas present for any Harry Potter fan or a wonderful investment for a collector.

But it won’t come cheap.
We want you to dig deep. Remember, as well as getting a very special book, you will be helping a very special cause.
The book will go to the highest bid received by the closing date of Tuesday, December 18.
You can bid by letter or postcard to:

Braveheart’s sword swings into auction

The Portpatrick Friends of CHAS are holding an auction on Friday in aid of our appeal. Many of the items were donated by generous local businesses and individuals in the Portpatrick and Stranraer area.
Viewing begins at 6.30 pm at the Lagganmore Golf Club, near Portpatrick. Anyone with items to donate should contact Iain Ritchie on 01776 810504.
Iain and his pals, who make up the Portpatrick Friends of CHAS, are hoping to have a very special item for sale on the night — a claymore from the blockbuster film Braveheart.
Only 50 of these swords were made for the film, and this is the only one currently available for sale. The last one which went up for auction fetched £116,000!
