THE 4th Carluke Boys’ Brigade Junior Section have for several years held a fund-raising event with the aim of helping others. This year, the boys decided to raise money for CHAS, and had a sponsored walk from Kirkfiedbank up to New Lanark and back again, approximately eight miles (12 kilometres). The photograph shows the boys at the start of the walk. Some of the parents who went along to support their sons found the going a little bit difficult, especially at the start with the climb up to Castlebank Park. However, with lots of encouragement, everyone made it all the way round. The efforts of all the boys who took part raised a tremendous total of
£1000. Tom Robley, officer in charge, asked us to pass on a big thank you to all who sponsored the boys and said special mention should go to Ewan Adamson, who raised
£158.
