Barrhead ‘bouncers’ boost appeal

By Arlene Kelly

THE CHILDREN of Barrhead Family Centre, Glasgow, were jumping for joy at the fun they had when they joined our appeal for CHAS.
The 128 kids, encouraged by the centre’s 15 staff, took part in a sponsored bounce to boost funds.
Depute Head Eleanor Hogg explained, “We raise funds once a year and usually concentrate on children’s charities. We thought it would be good to do something for a Scottish-based charity and decided on CHAS.
“We’d heard about it through The Sunday Post and from staff and thought it a very worthwhile cause.”

Teacher Debbie Brown with some of
the children from the Barrhead Family centre,

A sponsored bounce was organised for October 31 and the excited children, dressed in their pyjamas, leapt on to the hired bouncy castle.
Eleanor said, “The children enjoyed themselves and we were amazed by the response from parents.”
One of the bouncers, five-year-old Erin Patterson, said, “I kept falling but it was great fun bouncing about.”
The total raised was a superb £1470.30.
